Salty air, sandy toes, the sound of the ocean waves…
There’s really not much that beats a sunset photoshoot on the ocean shoreline.
My husband and I traveled to the picturesque paradise of Anna Maria Island, Florida in September 2023. And although I’m a Colorado-based photographer, I travel nationwide and even internationally to capture my clients. And since I’m always up for a trip to the beach, I couldn’t wait to shoot this couple in the waves at sunset.
With its white sand and crystal-clear water, Anna Maria Island creates a gorgeous backdrop for photos of any kind – weddings, engagements, or in this case – couples portraits.
I loved having the chance to be a photographer in Florida– to capture these dreamy moments of Annie and James. Anna Maria Island holds a special place in this couple’s heart, and now I know why!
Here, you can see the magic of their couple’s photoshoot on Anna Maria Island– and why it could be a perfect location for you to create your own timeless memories.
Anna Maria Island, Florida, situated on the Gulf of Mexico, offers warm ocean breezes and comfortable year-round temperatures. It’s known for its laid-back atmosphere for any occasion with stunning sunsets, vast beachfronts, and tons of fun local shops and dining destinations.
And the white sand plus the vibrant colors of the sky during sunset offered a picture-perfect setting for this photoshoot.
A couples photoshoot during golden hour not only makes pictures that much more romantic, but also creates an ethereal ambiance that elevates my photos to a whole new level.
We spent the sunset near the Sandbar Restaurant. The Sandbar on Anna Maria Island provides beautiful oceanfront views for a fun, beachfront dining experience.
The Sandbar is also a popular wedding destination on Anna Maria Island, so check out their event packages if you’re interested in wedding or rehearsal events here.
Annie and James took us out to the shoreline in the evening among the small crowd of beachgoers waiting for the sun to go down.
The colors were bright, the water was warm, and I fell in love with capturing Annie and James in their element. They’re two beach lovers from the Midwest, and I could tell they embrace every moment they get to be by the ocean.
They actually got married in Florida in 2022. But they wanted me to capture them together this year in a more natural setting where they could really be themselves.
I reminded them that their couples photoshoot is not just about taking pictures – it’s about capturing moments of authenticity. No posing needed!
They hugged, they laughed, they danced, and they ran into the ocean together hand in hand.
I felt like I was narrating their love story through my camera lens.
Shooting Annie and James gave me the perfect taste of what more Anna Maria Island photoshoots could look like– from engagements to weddings to portraits, and more!
I can’t wait to return to Anna Maria Island again soon to create more captivating photos in such a picturesque setting.
“We were beyond thrilled to have Linden as our couple’s photographer on Anna Maria Island. We felt so at ease in one of our favorite places together. We’ve been coming to Anna Maria Island together for almost a decade — and the love and magic we always feel here has finally been captured so well in these photos. We’re obsessed!” – Annie
